Tiqets Announces the Global Winners of the Remarkable Venue Awards

Amsterdam, 18 January 2022 - Today Tiqets, the leading online ticketing platform for museums and attractions, announced the 7 Global Winners of the 2021 Remarkable Venue Awards. Winners include the Vatican Museums as 2021's Most Remarkable Venue and Casa Batlló as Best Landmark.

The winners were chosen based on 7,000+ consumers votes cast between December 1 - January 16. Consumers were asked to vote on their favorites to choose which of the 42 regional Remarkable Venue Award winners deserved the global titles.

The 2021 Remarkable Venue Awards Global Winners are:

• Best Museum 2021: Musée Marmottan Monet

This award recognizes the best-rated museums and art galleries. The Global winner, the Musée Marmottan Monet, is a Parisian favorite that holds the world's largest collection of Monet paintings. 

• Most Remarkable Venue 2021: Vatican Museums

This award recognizes the most popular venues that have drawn the largest crowds. The 2021 Global Winner is Italy’s Vatican Museums, home to the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s most famous frescoes, along with plenty of other awe-inspiring artworks. 

• Best Landmark 2021: Casa Batlló 

This award recognizes the best-rated cathedrals, churches, castles, palaces, historical or iconic landmarks. Barcelona’s Casa Batlló, an architectural masterpiece designed by Antoni Gaudí, took home the 2021 Global Winner title. 

• Best Onsite Experience 2021: Windsor Castle 

This award recognizes the venues that are best rated for their onsite experience, including staff interaction and information at the venue. The 2021 Global Winner, England’s Windsor Castle, is one of the most famous royal residences in the UK, offering visitors unparalleled insights into the 1,000-year history of the UK’s monarchs. 

• Best Attraction 2021: Catacombs of San Gennaro

This award recognizes the best-rated attractions, including theme parks, zoos and aquariums. The Global Winner in this category, Catacombs of San Gennaro, is the final resting place of some of Italy’s most revered saints and nobility – a subterranean world of Italian history hidden under the streets of Naples. 

• Most Innovative Venue 2021: Paris Montparnasse Top of the City

This award recognizes the venues that found new and original ways to appeal to customers. This included innovations like sustainable initiatives, creative marketing strategies, or new technologies implemented. Paris Montparnasse Top of the City offered visitors a fun and educational augmented reality guide to the city of Paris.

• Best Hidden Gem 2021: Velázquez Tech Museum

This award is focused on highlighting lesser-known and more niche attractions to travellers the world over. The Global Winner in this category, Velázquez Tech Museum, is an immersive gallery in Madrid that shows classic art in a modern way. 

The nominees for these 7 global titles were the 42 regional award winners in 7 categories announced at the Remarkable Venue Awards in November 2021. These venues in France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK & Ireland, and the US were selected based on their visitor reviews on Tiqets.com and, for the two application-based awards, through an assessment by a panel of independent industry judges.

About the Tiqets Remarkable Venue Awards

The Tiqets Remarkable Venue Awards were established in 2017 to recognise and celebrate the best attractions and museums in the most-visited cities around the world. The first Tiqets Remarkable Venue Awards was hosted in Paris in 2017. 

The award selection process

The 2021 regional awards, hosted in November 2021, honored winners in seven award categories and six markets: the UK & Ireland, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the US. The regional winners of the Best Museum, Best Attraction, Best Landmark, Best Onsite Experience and Most Remarkable Venue Award were selected based on customer reviews on Tiqets.com. The application-based awards, Best Hidden Gem and Most Innovative venue, were selected by a panel of industry experts. All regional award winners were then automatically entered into the voting-based competition to win the title of Global Winner in their category.
